The Pets Arrival.. (THEIR SO CUTE!)

Last Friday was Pets Day!
And has you know from my last blog-post we did Sand-Saucers and Vegetable Sculptures at the start of the day! Me and A Friend finished with 2nd Place!

Afterwards we were required to hear about how to handle our pet, mostly Dogs someone from the Christchurch Animal Behaviour Enforcer, kindly took us through steps, from teasing to aggressive behaviour! we learnt a lot in that session. And it helped us afterwards!

Before heading off with our pets, Bridget and Jo came out and showed us some Horse Tricks! And during this event I volunteered and was selected to come out and piggy back one of the 1-2 years and sadly they gave her a tapping whip, and I was scared during that moment, but eventually I relaxed into it, and so we played sneak up granny with Jo and Bridget played with her horse Carly.

It was quite fun and in the end we won against Bridget and Carly.

Here's a Presentation of the day we had!

Our day began again with activities in our house groups, I lead a Edgar team with this event and we did things like hay bale jumping, Boot throwing, Tire pushing and so on. We had a blast because next came the exciting bit!

Pets began arriving, and I was a writer for the judge in the Horse and Pony area, we split them evenly and got names and soon we organised our winners! Bridget and Ashlee tied for the Horses and the Ponies were a hard decision but we found our winners in the end!

Hopefully we have a amazing Pet Day next year haswell!

Pets Day ( Sand Saucer)

Today is Pet Day! And this morning we've started with our amazing Sand Saucers.

and Vegetable Sculptures, and this year I've decided to try out a Sand Saucer creation. With my friend Abby, we choose to call it the Jungle due to its large expansion and colourful traits.

I spent a while collecting things from my garden, and Abby haswell. Then we noticed she was making something similar. So we combined our forces and made this Jungle.

Is it great? What is a better name then the Jungle?

Sugar Clouds Approaching! (Home Learning)

There appears to be a cause of commotion in the skies, when it comes to Home Learning, I have taken the challenge to making a Weather Report on this delicious candy rain! That I've created.

Luckily I have made a google drawing, to demonstrate the Weather Report. 

This rain has been caused up above by something, unexplainable but soon over lookers are going to be sent above to investigate! What might they find?

A&P Show (You lied to us teacher..)

Hello there again!

Today I would like to talk about our 'okay' day at the A&P show, normally the teacher started off the day before telling us normally that we'd be put purposely with our friends, sadly that didn't work too well for our group of friends.

I was split with Hana, and my other friends were not in my group which was quite sad. But still it was a decent day, during the day we explored things like the animal exhibit which was interesting.

 This cow almost licked me while I was reaching out to pat it...

After that we decided to continue our journey through the A&P show and we noticed a Canine performance while we were getting chips!

Here is some photos during the performance, I took some photos but forgot to share them to the teachers, anyways. These are dogs that are Sheep herders but also their owner trains them to do other things like tricks!

So here they are!

Sadly there isn't photos of us running around like maniacs, but we do have a photo of me doing CPR no not mouth to mouth, I mean CPR by the chest compressions.

Luckily we were provided with gloves before we tried doing the chest compressions and the dummies were clean!

Finally we arrive at lunch, after that we took a long bathroom break, and then we took another trip around the A&P show we stopped for some items, and we looked at animals, and learned some cool things about bees!

Our Trip To Music?

Today we took a trip into town, for a big bang concert!

We do find ourselves incredibly influenced that it would just be us but we were very wrong, around 7 other entire schools came and sat patiently with us to hear the concerts beautiful music, we got one of the top spots in the auditorium we were at the view basically behind the band, and we loved it!

I've created a presentation to reveal photos and things of our amazing day!

The Start of a Author's Apocalpse. (Home Learning)

The Cause

Chapter 1

The Tense futuristic lines of 2045, a day of chaos and riots, caused this whole world to fall into
emptiness, radiation gases, slaughter and too much criminality. All representatives hide in secured facilities
around the world, which are known has an area where food is clean and fresh and water runs naturally with
fluids pumping around everyone inside, but on the outside chaos falls into the world and the cities turn into
deserted battlefields, buildings filled with broken glass and feuds of dead bodies everywhere.

Children either are held in protection camps or are facing the world on their own,
this is known as the ‘cause’ people described it has, scientists in the lab department tried playing god,
and sealing a virus shut, the virus is a radiation gas,
that brainwashed the human brain and corrupts them into savaging beasts.
Feeding off human flesh and guts like wild animals.

Groups form, and rants begin, with the main character in this whole violent land,
Irene, a little girl in a protection camp, held there against her own safety,
her rich pale hair, just matched her white lovely skin, her eyes were brown and frosty,
her clothes were slightly torn, but over a few days, they came for the children..

Crowds of unknown faces, and sick toxin fueled zombies, circled the whole area, no escape they thought,
luckily the camp secured all children under in the large bungalow safely storing them underground,
and just for safety precautions they had a tunnel that joined far off groups of more safety areas,
where others hid in their caged tents, and waited patiently for the rampage of the apocalypse.

I for one.. Am Irene, a girl of fright, a girl of closure.. And girl.. That's wanting answers..

I’m the girl who was left behind at the exhibit, I was left in that.. Caged glass room,
and not a single human being interacting or released me..

Athletics day! (left our legs broken..)

Hey Bloggers!

Our athletics day was a exciting day for all those.. athletic kids..

Lets start over with high jump! I was in the Year 7 & 8 group so I got to go to zones for.. Year 7 girls! We had to pass 1 meter do get in for zones, I got a meter 1.05 or 1.10, I don't remember but it was exciting, Grace was behind me with a meter although she didn't pass the 5, we were left distressed, mostly because she didn't want to go in the end.. 

Next up we have Long Jump!

Our inspiration for this was... 'Pretend to be a rocket' just like how our inspiration for High Jump was 'Shrek' our best jumper for year 7's would probably be Mia, with her rocket styled jumps.

We down to Discus, my least favourite sport.. why? because sometimes the discus goes wobbly and of course.. we had to walk out BACKWARDS! and if we didn't disqualification..

Sadly Shotput and Discus didn't get any photos.. (hehe losers c:<) but we still have relays and sprints.. Sprints would be way awesomer but it turns out my Twisted ankle from a weak ago twisted again during sprints.. sad right?

Mia got first for Year 7's and for Year 8's 60 winner was Parwin, and the 100 was Jedi!

Why didn't I show both winners for 60 & 100 because Mia was the winner for both..

But lets go to the big finish!

Team relays... Me and Parwin the leaders of Edgar the better house..

helped and ran with out Edgar team to the end!

After house relays we warmed up for the Random Team relays, where the year 7-8's made up 2 teams to beat the Parents and Teachers, my team came 2nd and the other 7-8 team came first, and the Parents obviously came 3rd with Mr Fast Dad...

After that everyone had broken legs after which is.. great?

New Novel Study Book!

During this term we've started by getting a new Novel study through speed dating, and I haven't represented my book yet.. so.. Here it is! 

My book is based of Parvana and her journey across Afghanistan she faces, many emotional things in her life like losing her family and the loss of her father, she still searches for her mother and siblings but hasn't become successful instead she wonders Afghanistan for them.

I picked this book because of its interesting backstory, and I found out this is the Part 2 of her journey, although my friend Parwin has the other book, so she fills me in with some of the stuff in her book!

I feel like I made the right choice with this book.

Home Learning - My Future House?

 Today I've taken the Idea of doing making my future house that is shown in diagram and labeled carefully, I must say I wasn't sure what I was thinking about I remember looking at houses then that's where I got this idea. although it might seem basic, its more of the style, design, texture and idea that I had with it that makes it feel casual to me.

I have labeled and confirmed most of the clear design. I used a clear description and information process on this. and yes it took a long time.

Learning, The Method (Again)

Today I learnt a method in maths.

I knew the method previously but it had been so long, since I had used it.

Today I'm going to teach you that method! it involves a easy way of solving a problem that relates to this method. Without further ado let's learn!

Has you can see from this example, I made up a random number, which is 45 divided by 5, you put the 45 into a subtracting column and on the side in brackets, you can see I've used my times tables to find 45 by doing 5 x 9 which equals 45 and therefore the answer is 9 and the only reason you subtract the answer from 45 is because if there was a remainder you could find it. and you can do this many times in brackets, and subtract the first remainder also.

Maths Screencastify Explanation!

Today I'm blogging about the screencastify, I completed and submitted for maths, boring right? well it's not that long, and it's a quick demonstration that I would love feedback on! therefore I'm gonna present in this slide the screencastify, and I hope you enjoy learning the method I demonstrated through this activity how to use this method and what the problems were.

A Special Visit?

Today in Rimu, a mysterious guest has entered. Karyn Wilson the author of the books -

Kereru BBQ - Peka and Koro

We learn about her amazing life and impressive development on books, we learn about the process and friendship with the illustrator of her books. She read us the book Peka and Koro, about a Bat and Snail, the other characters are new to some of us and some aren't, she also revealed to us her website, which took her about 9 months to make just like the books themselves.

Many gifts and appreciation was given to Karyn Wilson, like Ethans book that his grandmother made for them, and the flowers that was offered to her for participating to actually come to our classroom.

After she read us Peka & Koro she taught us about the characters that Peka & Koro met on the way, and we learnt about many interesting insects - animals and birds, but we also learnt about how many Bats could live in a tree! about 1,000 bats could live in one tree, mostly because of the current size of them. since their just the size of a mouse.

Last Week Of Winter Sport?!

Welcome to another blog-post!

Sadly this week is our last Winter Sport Session, we are saying goodbye also to our coaches that helped us through tough defeats and victorious wins.

I want to share the experience of our Senior Netball team in this blog-post.

Our team might of lost many games, but we still all support and care about each other in the team, Our team includes - Mia, Maddie, Abby, Amelia, Bridget, Ashlee & myself. I wish us luck for this last game, and hope you wish us luck haswell.

We've had many tough competitions including schools like Prebbleton & Hornby, They were all really tough hard working teams and we can't wait to go against HHS Centals!

Good luck HHS Centals! The Uni-que-corns are coming for ya!

Maths Week Process!

Recently we've started our journey on Maths Week. Where we and a partner or a three discuss out of the topics what were going to do.

Topics like what? most of the topics are about Maths and involves lots of things like Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction!  Me and Julia did a word search/board game we used Division, Addition, Multiplication and Subtraction questions that we got from our classmates.

Here's where we got up to! and if you look hard enough you can see some Numbers, Words and lots of other things revolving around Maths. but something you may notice is at the top! Where it says.. "We Love Maths"

were planning on printing our finished game onto paper then the original goes onto cardboard! Our idea was this but we were wondering if you had more ideas for our board-game but for now if you look closely you can see words we've already added.

Do you think this is a good idea? or should we change it? if so Why? do you think we should've gone with another plan? like drawing a board game on paper then printing to a piece of a card-board?

My Learning Goals This Year!

Shark Tank Presentation (Parwin & Nikita)

For this I got one of my parents/family members to say what they would want has well, we were also told to submit the 3 wishes in a creative way, so I decided to do this.

Division Chunking Method!

Hello!

In Maths this week, we've been learning more Division and Chunking methods for division!

Let's start off with the division wheels!

I've already passed this part but, I think I should show you what I learnt before the more interesting method I finally understood.

We had to use our times tables to solve most of these, and some numbers may be upside down, so it may look kinda confusing.

But how it works is, the question is at the top.

you multiply 3 with something close to 51 but not something higher than 51, and then you minus that number you have with the original number. Then whichever number you get after that you multiply something by 3 to get the number or get a number close to it, if you don't have a remainder you plus 10-7 because they are the numbers you used to calculate and after that you have your answer.

This here is the Chunking Method, it is used to work out the equation easier, this was the example we had to learn off, and I think I should share it to you because, l you could use it in the future to solve a Division question.

Today In Rimu, we've been doing a activity on dragons over this week, I sadly wasn't here for 2 days so I had to start late, but finished my dragon design and where it will live!

We based off where it was gonna live from How to train your dragon, A series, movie and interesting tale of dragons and I even used to watch it all the time has a child.

So far its one of my favourite movies and series!

But let me show you what I've created!

This is a Lava Slink, that lives inside the volcano blazing lava, the bones are from creatures that have died to the lava and the Lava-Slink collects them similar to the bone-napper, that is made of bones.

But this creature is the size of a night fury, and if you go close it will shoot a inferno light of blazing flames in the air to either kill or scare away dragons, this dragon is also something without pupils therefore the vision of this creature is quite poor. but the Lava-Slink has a ear dropping scream that confuses the dragon and can deafen the opponent long enough to make its attack.
