Our Challenge was to fit 6 counters in a shape, and show the teacher. we needed to do has many shapes that we could make. At first I was struggling with my group but we soon figured out what we were supposed to do. when we figured it out I worked together with my group, but I worked together with my friend. Sadly since we were spending most of the time figuring it out on our own, we only finish 4 shapes. But hopefully next time we can double the shapes.
How many shapes do you think you would complete? Would you do this challenge? How many counters would you use? will you get the most shapes and numbers ever?! tell me about it :)
My group was told to use 6 counters for the investigation, but I would like to try use more counters for the shapes. and more harder shapes. Forgot to mention! you try to only use regular shapes during this activity.
What do you think of this? is it a good idea for your class to try?
what other shapes should I try? how could I make this more challenging?
Hope you try this activity, it was a fun thing to do with class.

Kai ora Nikita,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about the process you went through to do this activity. I found your explanation of polygons easy to understand and helpful. Do you think you will have another go at this activity?
In answer to your questions I do think it's a good idea and I wonder if you could try a rhombus. Your square could fit a lot more counters ... could you have made it smaller?
Great blogging Nikita,
